A New EBook Book Reader Produced By Acer Expected To Take On Kindle2
Acer Inc., no slouch when it comes to contending in the laptop arena, plans to be in the ebook book reader arena soon this year.
Acer executive Jim Wong, leader of the companies IT Products division, outlined the tactics through an interview with Bloomberg at Acer's headquaters in Taipei.
The day before Apple's supposed entrance into the tablet sweeps-a model that will serve electronic-book readers and others-Wong also said the company will furthermore present "hundreds" of apps online, programs that will support Google's Android platform, at present running on quite a lot of Acer goods, on top of handling Microsoft's Windows OS.
Before this summer is out, Acer will be expected to make available an e book reader with a 6-inch monochrome screen, Mr. Wong informed Bloomberg. "Amazon kindle and B and N; they are US based. In Europe and Asia-Pacific we have publishers to work with, and most of them are content owners," he said. Acer will go up against devices including the Amazon dx , B and N Inc.'s Nook and Sony's Reader and so it will be easy to compare ebook reader models.
Acer also has the Apple "iSlate"-if it appears-to contend with. "We're developing something, and we should observe what happens" J.T. Wang, Acer's CEO, said in the report. "We're certain to perform either within a Windows world or in Google's defined OS space."
