Here is a list on the ways to set your mind to the place so that you make a very intelligent decision to stop smoking. This is really a determination that if you engage your brain it just does not make any sense to continue with your smoking at all. By forming a plan and following it and by knowing what you are going to get as a reward for quitting this habit you will inspire hope yourself and remind your own self even when you are tempted that the payoff is so much more for quitting the habit than to continue with behavior that is costing you dearly both financially and health wise.
I didn't think I would be able to quit my smoking habit. It seemed like I was always waiting until the stress in my life was at a minimum to begin to stop and of course that just never seemed to happen. I used my smoking as a stress reliever and I just didn't know what to replace it with. I was hesitant of gaining weight and it seemed like every time I stopped smoking or even attempted smoking control, I replaced my smoking with eating and as soon as I saw a weight increase over five pound I was once again smoking.
It was not simple but I started some smoking control by replacing additional activities and habits for times when I would usually smoke. When I decided that I had to stop the smoking habit I started with a list of pros and cons for my determination to smoke or to stop. In other words what I was getting out of smoking and then the cons to maintaining my smoking habit. Of course the pros far outweighed the cons. The financial and health costs of a smoking addiction makes the decision to continue one you cant really explain in any sense except for the fact that as a smoker this is a habit that you get pleasure from.
After I made my list I hung this list up on my shower mirror and also on my refrigerator door. I wanted everyday to see my motivation for changing my behavior this helped considerably since quitting smoking is a decision one has to renew day by day. After you stop smoking you have to suspect there will be times when you will slip but in the times past that I slipped, I just accepted failure and started smoking full steam ahead. This time if I backslid and bought a pack of cigarettes or smoked one I begged from a friend I allowed myself forgiveness for not being perfect and started right back up.
When I saw the scales go up I made sure to exercise more and not to rearrange eating with smoking. I also rewarded myself by pampering myself with something I normally would not do for myself. If I pay attention to careful smoking control my cigarette use always goes down. I can't say that I do not think about smoking occasionally and in all probability always will but I also prompt myself that what you save is both health and money. Your clothes do not stink of smoke your hair does not reek of smoke and you can better enjoy the food you eat. You can also put the cash you would have used for buying cigarettes into a saving account and watch it add up.
